Missing a Detail? Check the Source, Don’t Fill the Gap

Identify missing identifiers, unclear sequences and unsupported wording without inventing facts to make a draft feel complete.

A short summons form and a detailed testimony account do different work. When reviewing a draft, look for missing context—but do not use a checklist as permission to invent it.

Start with identity gaps

Check the summons reference, date, location and vehicle. An incomplete location or transposed number may connect an otherwise readable draft to the wrong matter. Compare these fields with the authorized original before changing the narrative.

Look for unexplained transitions

Does the draft jump from an observation to a stop without explaining the sequence you actually observed? Separate the events using supported information. If you cannot establish an intermediate detail, preserve the limitation rather than filling it with a typical scenario.

Identify unsupported precision

A specific distance, duration or weather description may appear helpful, but it needs a basis. Ask where each detail came from. A software-generated statement or copied example is not an independent source.

Check code specificity

Keep the correct law label and complete subsection. Missing parentheses or letters can matter when locating a reference. The code-search workflow helps you begin a lookup; verify important results through the relevant official source.

Handle questions through the right channel

If a discrepancy affects an official record or case preparation, follow agency procedures and appropriate guidance. Do not silently amend an official matter by changing a private draft. Label unresolved preparation questions clearly.

Finish with a full read

After corrections, review the entire account and export. Check that the changes do not introduce contradictions elsewhere. Use the review checklist and keep your original sources available under approved practices. The goal is a faithful preparation draft, not a guarantee of any hearing outcome.
